What the Free plan includes, what Pro adds, and what counts as a remote database.
mxds is free to use with no time limit. Pro is a yearly subscription for work that spans several databases and long-running projects.
What Free includes
The whole app: SQL editor and results, charts, Jupyter notebooks, dbt, the terminal for your agents, the mxds CLI and MCP, git and pull requests. Two things have a limit:

Every update is free, on Free and Pro alike.
What counts as a remote database
PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, Trino and MotherDuck. The built-in database and any DuckDB or SQLite file on your Mac never count.
